Long time, no see

I've been laying low since the last election concentrating my time on personal matters. I am still producing the television show Truthmobile LIVE presented by Democracy for Houston and we have two shows coming up:

March 2 @ 6 PM
March 9 @ 6 PM

Houston MediaSource Cable Access - Ch. 17 on Time Warner cable in Houston.

Here is a video that I will be showing. It's my friend Carlos talking about being TORTURED in the Harris County Jail without provocation.

Still here

I'm still alive, folks. I've been very busy, though. Work is kicking my behind and I've been trying to unwind. The next TV show will be this Monday at 7 PM, so check it out! I will try to get some more past shows online soon, but with my schedule being as it is, it might be a few weeks.

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

I hope you've all had a great Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for the new Democratic Congress who is about to take power!

wow

Things have been crazy around here. Thankfully most of the nation has woken up and kicked those Republican bums out, but Texas hasn't. I will be discussing why on the next episode of Truthmobile Live on Monday the 13th at 8 PM.

I would like to congratulate every single Democratic candidate for standing up for what is right and doing their part to make a difference. I'm very happy for those who won, but I'd also like to impart on them not to ever give up. As one of my favorite candidates David Van Os says, "Fight 'em till Hell freezes over and then fight 'em on the ice!"

I will keep up the good fight and I hope everyone else will, too.

Robb Zipp's really abbreviated voter's guide:

This is what I did. I cannot tell you how to vote, but I can tell you how I voted. I have that right.

I didn't vote Straight Ticket Democratic. Nope. I did vote for every single Democrat (most of which I have personally went out of my way to meet and talk to) individually so that I could see their name at the end. In races where there was no Democrat running, but there was a Libertarian, I voted for them. In races where Republicans were running unopposed, I left it blank. There is one Green Party candidate (that I knew before-hand was a Green) who is a write-in candidate for Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court. I scrolled his name (Charles E. Waterbury) in instead of voting for the Republican or Libertarian.

Those are my endorsements. I really hope you find the time to vote. It's more important than you know.

Democratic Rally at Houston City Hall, Election Eve 2006

Tonight I went down to City Hall and heard from many of the people you will see on the Democratic ticket Tuesday (today or tomorrow, depending on when you read this). It was supposed to be outside, but the rain forced us inside and it was an event that I will never, ever forget. The energy in the lobby of City Hall was electric. Now I'm not naive enough to believe that every one of the candidates will win, but I really wish they all could. I really wish the rest of the people of this state could open up their eyes and realize what the true Republican agenda is. I'm forever grateful that I have.

Please vote. It's your civic duty.

Freedom - better quality

If this doesn't encourage you to vote out the Republicons, I don't know what else will.

Early voting adventure with Jim Henley

I interviewed Jim Henley at his campaign headquarters this afternoon and then I went to Lamar High School with him to load up some of his former students on his bus and go to an early voting location. It was the first time any of them had voted and it was really cool to see a group of young people getting involved in the political process. I remember my first time I voted. Things have changed a lot since then, and not for the better...

I didn't vote straight ticket Democrat. I voted for every Democrat on the ballot, but in races where a Republican was unopposed, I left it blank. In races where Republicans were being challenged by only a Libertarian, I voted for the Libertarian. I even wrote in a candidate from the Green Party by the name of Charles E. Waterbury. He was running for Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court against a Republicon and no Democrat was running. As a matter of fact, there were TONS of offices where Republicans were running unopposed. This really needs to change, and soon. There is no excuse for any Republican to not be challenged. If I were the Harris County Democratic Chairman, I'd make it my #1 goal to run a candidate for every office. The citizens of Harris County deserve that choice.

In other news, the Democracy for Houston Executive Steering Committee met last night and we discussed our next meeting in one week from today. I'm going to show a 20-30 minute video of highlights from my TV activism and then I'm going to do very quick interviews with each member that comes to the meeting. They'll tell everyone who they are, why they are involved, and what inspires them. I really like this idea because it gives us all a better chance to get to know each other and it gives the viewers a chance to see their fellow citizens who are involved in making this a better place. It also will show that I'm not the only one involved even though I've been the only person seen on the show!

David Van Os whistlestop yesterday

Perry Dorrell, aka PDiddie picked me up and we went to KPFT to pick up David Van Os, the next Attorney General of the State of Texas. We went to the Fannin park and ride and met up with Richard Morrison, who took on Tom DeLay in the 2004 elections and got a surprising number of votes. Richard and David talked to every single person who got onto that train and gave them information about the race. I know if I ever run for anything, I'm going to get Richard Morrison to work for me!

We got downtown and walked over to the Harris County Courthouse so that he could file an affidavit stating that he will do everything in his power to stop the Trans Texas Corridor. He's going to all 254 County Courthouses in the state of Texas, and this was his 252nd. The previous 251 all gladly took his affidavit. Not so in Harris County. They were rude and made it clear that they don't work as servants to the citizens of this county. If you want that to change, remove Republican Beverly Kaufman as County Clerk and elect James G. Pierre! I might even have him on an upcoming episode of the Truthmobile. More on that, later.

After the thwarted attempt to notify the people of Harris County of his intentions, we walked over to the old courthouse and DVO gave a great speech. I video taped that and it will be online shortly as well as being played on the Truthmobile and Greenwatch TV.  Also there was Judge Bill Moody who is running for the Texas Supreme Court. He walked all the way from El Paso! He's walked across the state to let people know why he's running. He's walking towards the Louisiana border now, so he should make it in the next couple of days. I interviewed him, as well. Also present was Gary Binderim, who is running for the US House of Representatives against Ted Poe in the 2nd district of Texas. I did an interview with him that you'll see soon, also.

After the speech downtown, we went to this place called Kobain to celebrate and hear from some other candidates. They had a really good burger there, too. haha. Anyhow, DVO gave another great speech, Hank Gilbert, who is running for Texas Agriculture Commissioner gave a great speech (that I videoed and you'll see soon) and I also was able to video tape some short speeches from Mark McDavid who is running for the Texas House of Representatives District 138, Jim Sharp who is running for the Texas First Court of Appeals, and Mary Kay Green who is running for Judge in the 245th Family District Court.

Democratic candidates want to meet you. It's easy to find out who they are in your area and they will be glad to answer any questions you have. Republicans, not so much. I encourage you all to find out as much as you can and ask tough questions of the people who want your vote. It's really more important than you think.

Chris Bell for Governor -

Here's the commercial that I mentioned in my previous post.

Chris Bell's new ad and response to Perry's

ChrisBell.com
Watch Chris's new ad

Dear Friend,

Great news! We're going up on TV today with a brand new ad that exposes the impact that Rick Perry's corruption has had on the most vulnerable Texans -- our children.

The ad takes a look at Rick Perry's decision to give the children's health insurance contract to Accenture, a Bermuda-based company represented by several former Perry staffers. Since Perry made this insider deal, over 250,000 kids have lost their health insurance coverage. Watch the full ad on our website:

http://www.chrisbell.com/sacrifice

As you've probably seen by now, Rick Perry is running ads across the state attacking Chris Bell on taxes and border security. Not surprisingly, Perry's ad is heavy on rhetoric but light on facts. Chris Bell has a proven record as a tax-cutter. He helped pass the first property tax rate rollback in Houston's history, and he didn't need a court order to do it. Moreover, the border security vote referenced in Perry's ad was a bill to pull troops out of Afghanistan and reassign them to the border -- a bill that even the Pentagon criticized as a dumb idea.

By contrast, Chris Bell's new ad puts the facts on the table and calls Rick Perry to task for passing along the cost of corruption to the most vulnerable Texans. Hundreds of thousands of Texas children have lost their health insurance since Rick Perry gave the $900 million children's health insurance contract to his cronies at Accenture. When Chris Bell is governor, he will fire Accenture, and our children will no longer have to bear the cost of Rick Perry's corruption.

http://www.chrisbell.com/sacrifice

This ad will start airing all across the state tonight, and you can help us spread the word even faster by forwarding this email to 10 friends. When it comes to health care for children, the difference between Chris Bell and Rick Perry could not be more clear. Rick Perry's reign of error has left hundreds of thousands of Texas children with no health coverage. When Chris Bell is governor, he will end the culture of corruption and make sure our children have access to health care.

Sincerely,

Tim McCann

P.S. Don't forget to forward this email to 10 friends and encourage them to watch the ad. We need your help to spread the word. If Democrats get out and vote, we will win!

This is the ad that I was an extra for on Wednesday. If you look closely, you might be able to see the back of my head!
