Letter from Texas Democratic Party Chairman, Boyd Richie

Dear Fellow Democrats,

This past weekend, Texas Democrats showed the people of Texas that we stand up for values and priorities shared by Texans from all walks of life. We're teachers and business owners, firefighters and students, refinery workers and professionals... people you see every day who are united by our commitment to Moving Texas Forward to a better future.

I want to thank everyone who participated in the convention process - from attending precinct conventions back in March to the state convention in Fort Worth - for all you have done to help build the enthusiasm and do the work to make our convention a success. The Texas Democratic Party is strong enough to win this November and beyond, by working together as one team to rebuild our party, communicate our message, and motivate our Democratic base, we will send a bunch of Republicans packing, just like Tom DeLay.

I also want to thank Glen Maxey, Charlie Urbina-Jones and Lakesha Rogers - for running constructive campaigns that emphasized your ideas about how we can improve our Party. I look forward to working with you as we strive to provide our candidates, local party leaders and grassroots organizers the tools and the support they need to communicate with voters and turn out the winning margin in November.

Thanks to all of you, when the convention adjourned, the Texas Democratic Party was stronger than when we arrived. We are united and eager to defeat the corrupt Republican leadership that has used our government to benefit their campaign donors and pad the pockets of their cronies.

After talking to thousands of delegates and watching the genuine enthusiasm that greeted our candidates as they spoke to caucuses and the convention as a whole, I'm confident that Democrats are ready to do the hard work it takes to win. That hard work begins right now. We look forward to helping your efforts to organize your neighborhoods, volunteer for local campaigns or help train others. Together, we can change the future of our state and nation.

Your friend and fellow Democrat,

Boyd L. Richie
Chairman
